Bruno Di Maio
PainterBorn : 1933, Tripoli (Libya)
Bruno Di Maio was born in Libya in 1933. He attended the Institute of Art in Perugia from 1958 until 1960 and then in Rome until 1965. Studying under the Master Painter, Cellini, Di Maio’s work was well exposed across Europe.
Di Maio’s works are technically perfect, demonstrating an unbelievable talent for realistic creations in miniature form. His portrayal always seeks to recreate in perfect form, whether the subject is real or imagined. His use of colour is formal in nature and his introduction of light and shade always creates a perfectly refined outcome.
In Di Maio's traditional work, he cultivates the genres of nudes and portraits. Recreating his subjects with absolute perfection, he endows them with not only life and character but also with a soul. His portrait works are amongst the finest ever created - true works of art by a true master.
In Di Maio's conceptual work, he plays, dreams and invents. He is conditioned not by history or by the instructions of old masters but by a fantastic science fiction, where Bosch-like creatures appear; brought back with photographic evidence.
Di Maio’s works can be found in private collections and public galleries around the world, including well-known galleries in Montreal, New York, Monaco and London.
